Rainbow Six Siege's match replay tool is a cheater's bad incubus

For the past five years, Rainbow Six Besieging has been the only if game that gets me paranoid about cheaters. It's non something that comes up in every match I play, only when I brawl see something suspicious from an enemy or teammate, it's altogether I can think back about. I expend the rest of the match looking for signs, examining their profile, and deliberating on whether Beaver State non I should report them.

The problem is that cheating can be genuinely hard to detect in Siege, where a normal round a great deal includes non-cheaters using sound and game sense to headshot mortal uninterrupted through a wall. Smashing Siege players aspect similar they could be hacking even when they aren't, sol when a cheater comes on with a wallhack or an aimbot, it's not hard for them to masquerade as the real deal. That is, until Match Replay finally arrived terminal month.

Equalise Replay mechanically records all of your past matches and lets you play them back in-secret plan from the perspective of any participant. Fans possess enjoyed replays for years in shooters equivalent Overwatch and CS:Blend as a way to improve their spunky or save memorable moments. Most important to Beleaguering, yet, is the tool's ability to finally answer the doubtfulness: Was that guy cheating?

To ME the best affair about the replay organization is the ability to happen cheaters. Here's a clip of a blatant cheater in everyday registered in x2 speed. from r/Rainbow6

Well, that one definitely was.

Found 3 cheater in 2 years. Reported them wholly to ubisoft support team. Uncomparable in Villa, two in Border from r/Rainbow6

Yep, they were too.

He has a very good gaming chair from r/Rainbow6

Oh, come on.

There is nowhere for a wallhacker to hide in Siege anymore. Eastern Samoa you can see, replays show all instrumentalist's outlines by default (connatural to watching Siege esports). Instead of spectating a fishy instrumentalist to see if they power personify trailing people through walls unrealistically, you privy about sham what they would be seeing if wallhacks were active. Observance clips care this feels confirmatory, even if the cheater placid ruined the actual match

Crafty cheaters can pretend they'atomic number 75 not looking at through walls OR purposefully neglect a fewer shots here and in that location, but tough players know what real instinct looks look-alike. Things are unlike now that you can ever jump into the shoes of the wrongdoer after the fact and size up every tweet of their camera.

Now, if entirely the remainder of Match Replay wasn't so janky. The feature is in beta, thusly bugs are foreseen, but Ubisoft has a long way to exit before it's a big-chested opposing-betray tool. Elements sometimes render incorrectly in-game (weapons power get misaligned or hands might disappear) and there are too many unclear hotkeys buried in settings menus. Worst of all is that you can't report players from interior the tool. Siege's built-in reporting options only appear spell you're in an active game, so reportage a slicker retroactively requires you to hunt down the username and submit a written report on Ubisoft's funding website. Yuck. If at any point I have to load an external site to tell the game that someone is two-timing, the game has failed me.

Still, Match Replay is a critical abuse forward for the competitive FPS. I expect near players to use it for recording highlights (which anyone with an Nvidia card should already be doing with Shadowplay), simply I see myself using it most often to learn from healthier players. I used to try to suss out how an enemy detected me forthcoming from the little perspective I see in the killcam, but now I fanny watch their entire outgrowth if I want. That's really neat.
